Entreprise Stein was founded by Marko Kaestner in 2009. Based in Lacapelle Segalar in the north of the Tarn département in South West France, Marko specialises in stone construction, stone restoration and stone carving.
He is an expert in the faithful restoration of old stone buildings such as churches, castles and stone houses and is skilful at matching the original appearance. His skills cover working with a wide variety of materials including limestone, sandstone and marble, and he is adept at creating traditional features for new projects, using techniques and materials that blend seamlessly and harmoniously in their setting.
Marko Kaestner
Marko Kaestner was born in Poessneck, Germany.
- From 1993 until 1998 he served as an apprentice to a stonemason and sculptor, learning his craft.
- From 1998, as a “Compagnon” and member of the German Guild of Craftsmen, he travelled internationally, undertaking the restoration of monuments, castles, churches and cathedrals.
- During 2002/2003 he worked as a stonemason and restorer in South Germany then came to South West France, working until 2009 for one English and two French companies as a stonemason and restorer
- Since the creation of Entreprise Stein in 2009 he has focused on restoration, construction and sculpture for private clients, communes and companies
- In 2011 he won first prize for the restoration of the Way Cross in the commune of Lacapelle Segalar and was honoured by the Minister of Culture and Communication
- In 2013 he created the monument of souvenirs and peace for Tonnac
- In 2020 he participated in the competition “Luxembourg Art Prize 2020”
